Dangote Group plans to launch a 25,000-hectare rice growing scheme to reduce Nigeria’s food import bill.
According to the Nigerian agriculture ministry, rice demand reached 6.3m tonnes in 2015 and with only 2.3m tonnes produced locally the country has been left reliant on imports to plug the 4m tonne shortfall.
