Probe launched into beef price fixing

South Africa’s Competition Commission has carried out search and seizure operations at 13 premises as part of a probe into alleged price fixing in the meat industry.

The Commission said it was investigating Karan Beef, Sparta Foods, Chalmar Beef, Beefmaster Kimberley, Morgan Beef, Beefcor and Fabvleis, which was trading as Midland Meat. The companies operate from Gauteng, the Free State and Northern Cape provinces.
