Africa must stop 'being beggars of the world'

Africa should move beyond aid handouts that have failed to bring growth and prosperity and move to an era of mutual respect with western countries, the president of Ghana has said.

Speaking to the Royal African Society’s Africa Beyond Aid event in London, president Nana Akufo-Addo said aid to his nation from donor countries was unsustainable and harmful to both sides.
