China’s largest retailer JD.com (JD) has signed agreements to purchase meat worth more than $1.2bn from the US over the next three years.
The agreement was signed in the presence of US secretary of commerce Wilbur Ross and Chinese vice premier Wang Yang in Beijing, and secures a commitment from JD to buying beef from the Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA) and pork from Smithfield Foods.
