Chinese president Xi Jingping has pledged to provide $80m for BRICS cooperation projects and urged fellow members to join him in opposing protectionism in favour of globalisation.
During his speech to open the three-day BRICS Summit in Xiamen— Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future—Xi offered $76m towards an economic and technology cooperation plan and another $4m for projects at the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB).
