Unilever, Inditex and H&M have taken the three top spots on Gartner’s annual European top 15 ranking of supply chains.
Gartner said the top trends that emerged across Europe’s leading supply chains were digital experimentation, adaptability and a focus on sustainability.
Unilever also topped Gartner's global ranking, published earlier this year. In total 10 companies in the European top 15 were also in the global top 25.
The ranking is based on a number of factors including return on assets, inventory turn, sustainability and revenue growth.
Stan Aronow, research vice president at Gartner, said: “The companies in the European top 15 demonstrated strong growth of 6.8%, which is more than double the average growth of the global top 25.
“Moreover, European companies scored above average in corporate social responsibility and opinion score performance.”
There were three new entrants into this year’s ranking, Adidas at number 13, Roche at number 14 and Siemens at number 15. British American Tobacco, Ahold Delhaize and Bayer all fell off the list.
