Procurement expert Bill Michels has been appointed CIPS vice president of operations in the Americas.

Michels has worked in procurement consulting across a spectrum of industries and countries and until recently was CEO of Aripart Consulting, which he founded after more than 23 years at ADR North America. Under his stewardship ADR became a leading niche specialty consulting firm, winning several recognitions and awards.

Duncan Brock, CIPS director, said: “This is a really exciting development for CIPS and recognises the growing demand we are seeing from both our existing client base and new organisations looking to develop their procurement standards and capabilities across the US.

“Bill is an excellent addition to our global CIPS team and we look forward to expanding our existing US network.”

Michels co-authored the book Transform Your Supply Chain and is a member of a number of boards including the board of directors of the Joe Niekro Foundation, the editorial board of advisors for Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine and the advisory board of Palambridge.
