Australian DoD testing blockchain for procurement

The Australian Department of Defence has begun security testing a prototype for a new blockchain and artificial intelligence-powered procurement management system that could significantly cut costs and greatly improve supply chain integrity.

The department’s procurement division, the Capability Acquisitions and Sustainment Group (CASG), has been developing the complex technology behind the system in cooperation with the University of NSW in Canberra for the last 12 months and the lead researchers behind the project unveiled it at the 2019 CIPS Australasia Conference in Melbourne.
