Gartner has announced the top 15 supply chains in Europe, with Inditex topping the chart.
Inditex, which owns Zara and Pull&Bear, is followed by Nestlé, Schneider Electric, Diageo and L’Oréal.
There were two new entrants this year: Dutch chemical company AkzoNobel, at number 10, and Swiss life sciences firm Roche at 14.
Firms are ranked based on factors including return on assets, inventory turns, CSR and the opinion of analysts.
Micheal Youssef, senior research director at Gartner, said: “Europe-based supply chain organisations continue to build on their strong performance in 2019, demonstrating exemplary demand-driven leadership and corporate social responsibility.
“Beyond profit, leading companies focused on people and protecting the planet, with nine out of the 15 companies achieving a perfect 10 in the CSR category.”
Gartner said the top three trends across European supply chains were personalisation at scale, leveraging ecosystems (collaborating with external partners), and business-led digital strategies.
The ranking forms part of Gartner’s global Supply Chain Top 25, which was headed by Colgate-Palmolive. Unilever has been promoted into the ‘masters’ category.
