CIPS has teamed up with ITN Productions to produce a current affairs-style programme highlighting the value of the procurement profession.

Procurement: People, Planet, Profit: The Living Supply Chain features key interviews and reports, involving professional partners, journalists, writers and bloggers.

The programme, which will launch at the CIPS Annual Conference in October, is designed to raise awareness of the importance and value that procurement and supply professionals contribute to business, society and people’s everyday lives.

Malcolm Harrison, group CEO, CIPS, said: “This a great opportunity to help inform, educate and promote our profession. This is a really exciting profession to be at the heart of right now, focusing on topics that really matter to society and guiding organisations through very challenging times.”

The programme, anchored by Kate Garraway, will address perceptions of the profession beyond cost cutting by highlighting strategic and intellectually demanding roles within it. It will explore themes including technology and innovation, ethical and responsible sourcing, sustainable and environmental procurement, education and skills, risk management and value generation.

Vicki Clubley, head of industry news, ITN Productions, said: “We are really excited by the opportunity to work with CIPS to create a programme that we hope will educate and inform viewers about the vital role of the procurement and supply profession, and will challenge industry perceptions. We also hope the film will inspire graduates to pursue a career in the sector.”

The first film, featuring Harrison, is available here.
