Women in procurement

The number of female procurement professionals is rising. Anecdotal evidence suggests there are more women in procurement every year. And, research about SM readers shows the ratio between male and female buyers is shifting. Why is that? Is there something inherent to buying that suits women? Could it be the requirement for softer skills? Or is that a broad generalisation? Whatever the reasons the trend is there for all to see. What do you think?
