We are now in the conference season and there are events virtually every day at the moment.

As we know, the best information and contacts are often made outside the formal sessions; meeting new people, networking and even schmoozing.

But it can be daunting. You stand there with your cup of tea surveying the room, looking for people you know or individuals looking as isolated as you feel.

We all get over it, but what are some of the best ways to "work the room"? How do you get the most from a contact and what is the best way to ditch somebody you wished you hadn't started talking to in the first place?
