Five years ago the BMW Williams F1 team was announcing it was going to crack down on its supplier relationships to improve its competitiveness.
While it may not have paid off in the long-term (BMW and Williams are now two separate teams), it’s a great example of purchasing being brought into an arena where it can add value where you might not expect.
It makes one wonder if football transfers would benefit from a bit of hard-nosed purchasing skill.
What other sports would benefit from a little procurement expertise?
