Unlikely to take off?

5 February 2008

“We love Boeing. **** the French,” Michael O’Leary apparently announced in a speech to Boeing workers. But months before the chief executive of Ryanair is reported as having given a much less romantic description of the negotiating process between the airline and its supplier. “We raped the *******!” he is said to have declared.

O’Leary’s approach to negotiations is explored in our current issue and based on extracts from a new book. Apparently while doing the deal for new fleet O’Leary would receive offers from one supplier only to fax it to the other asking them to better it.

What are your thoughts on O’Leary’s approach to procurement?
