So says David Williams, the claims director at insurance group AXA, who counts procurement among the functions that report to him.
He is not alone in recognising the tension that exists in many organisations between purchasers and their bosses from other functions. However, not all of the bosses of buyers quoted in our cover feature recognise that working together makes the two stronger. Many argue procurement does not speak their language or relate to the overall company’s goals.
