The outsourcing option

30 July 2008

In the latest issue of SM, experts discuss the recent rise in outsourcing activity, as organisations look to make savings in tight economic conditions. It contradicts the SM100 poll, which revealed 54 per cent of buyers think the current economic climate does not make outsourcing more attractive.

Rick Simmonds, partner at consultancy Alsbridge suggests this is because outsourcing is a “natural” cost cutting measure for buyers, who are used to assessing it as an option before approaching suppliers. “Procurement has been outsourcing for two or three years and it is pretty well informed on the technique,” he said.

Do you agree with Simmonds?

How long have you been using outsourcing as an option for driving savings?
