Free night in a hotel (if you're a CFO)

16 September 2008
Paul SnellBudget hotel chain Travelodge is offering a free nights stay to any finance director of a FTSE100 company, as their attempt to grab hold of firms’ business travel spend. Surely, though, they are targeting the wrong people? Procurement departments are the ones that hold the purse strings for business travel, so maybe it should be CPOs instead of CFOs the hotel chain should be trying to attract. No doubt though the CPO would be obliged to refuse, in case it was construed as some kind of sweetener.
