British Airways’ new idea to trim costs could be the ultimate test of employee loyalty. The airline – struggling amid falls in business class travel and still hurting from last year’s sky-high fuel prices – have asked staff to clock in but forego pay for up to a month. BA gives other, also voluntary, options, including taking unpaid leave. We’ve already seen other companies, such as Spanish bank BBVA, offer alternative working arrangements in a bid to cut costs. It got us at here SM thinking: will more companies to ask workers to put in hours without pay? Is this a first-class idea from BA? Do you think it will fly?
