Findings from the Conservative Party point to a dramatic fall in museum spending during the downturn. According to data secured under the Freedom of Information Act, acquisitions of new exhibits fell by more than 70 per cent last year. Shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt says the finding is "worrying" and called for more funding for museums.
