On Wednesday, SM reported that soft drinks giant PepsiCo is to team up with a subsidiary of Belgian brewing firm Anheuser-Busch InBev to buy indirect goods and services in the US.
But what struck us most about the deal was that PepsiCo is headquartered in a little hamlet in New York State by the name of – wait for it – Purchase. How beautifully apt, we thought.
Head south west for 1,000 miles or so and you hit the baron, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it drive-through town of Supply, Arkansas. Not far down the road in the same state is a small town named Vendor. Neither is famed nor celebrated for very much at all, sadly.
There’s also Buyerstown in Pennsylvania, Tradersville in Madison County, Ohio and closer to home of course, we have Sale in good old Greater Manchester.
