Systems failure?

5 January 2010
Last year Paul pointed out how people are using Twitter to vent about their organisation's procurement department. There were also potential suppliers voicing red fury at the purchasing practices they encountered. Logging on to update SM's Twitter account means I see this nearly every day. It amazes me that people are willing to be so publicly critical of colleagues or organisations they are attempting to win business from. Recently I have also noted an upward trend in people lambasting procurement systems. Frustrated at being unable to process simple orders, they scribe espresso-sized blogs full of venom. Here's one example from yesterday: “I am sick to the teeth of our procurement system, something on my basket is not right but it won't tell me what!” This is a typical complaint. Perhaps e-procurement firms should take note: some customers are unhappy with the systems you provide.
