January is a time for making resolutions: giving up booze, doing more exercise, taking up pottery, making more “me” time – that kind of thing.
Well, HT wants to choose your resolution for you this year, and we are setting you this challenge: to conduct a 30-second elevator pitch before the year is up.
Procurement has done well to boost its profile over the past few years (the past two, in particular) but it still has some way to go to attract graduates, win over internal customers and catch the eye of the chief exec. With this in mind, we want you all to join in and pledge to corner the CEO, or someone senior you want to know, in the lift before the end of 2011.
Now, you’ll need to judge whether it’s a good time to talk (watch their body language) and, like any good scout, you’ll need to be prepared. When the chance arises, tell them something positive you know about them/their department’s recent achievements; then explain how you can build on this success.
We want as many readers as possible to take up the challenge – you can pledge your commitment below. By 2012, everyone will know who you are . . .
