Don't forget to network

5 October 2011
Rebecca Ellinor, managing editor, Supply ManagementAs we found with many of this year’s CIPS/Supply Management award winners, building relationships with your internal stakeholders is key to extending procurement’s influence. But building up your networks should not only be an activity you do within your own organisation. Networking can help you exchange ideas, share problems to discover solutions, find a new job or recruit talent. There are already a number of established networking groups for procurement professionals out there, such as the Blueprint Club and CIPS’ new corporate networking group set up in partnership with Cranfield School of Management. And if you want to make new contacts online, click here for some tips. Tomorrow’s CIPS Conference 2011 is a perfect opportunity for you to start building your network. Talk to peers in the breaks, check the programme to see who else is attending that you might like to meet and get a conversation started. You never know where it might lead. And there are more interaction options available. Follow SM’s live blog on the day and send us tweets and feedback. Find out how, here.
