The best dinner and show in the West End

15 March 2012
It was a great evening at the CIPS Annual Dinner last night. Held in association with Proxima, the event saw senior members of the profession coming together to enjoy the company of their peers, an interesting guest speaker and a fine meal (and the accompanying wine – lots of people appeared to be enjoying that last night!). CIPS president David Smith’s opening address repeated his desire to see buyers who have enjoyed the rewards that accompany a career in procurement “give something back”, to encourage and develop the next generation of purchasing professionals. Guest speaker Matthew Parris gave an enthralling speech, blending humour with poignancy, about the importance of persistence in the face of adversity, but equally knowing when to stop and try something new. And the casino following the event was also very popular, with buyers gambling their “sovereigns” on blackjack and roulette to see who could accumulate the most, and win the grand prize. Congratulations to Trevor Kitching of Team Improvement who was the overall winner. We’ll put all the pictures from last night up on the Supply Management Facebook page and the Supply Management Flickr page later today.
