New MD for CIPS Southern Africa announced

CIPS 20 July 2010

Andre Coetzee will join the team at CIPS Southern Africa

CIPS Southern Africa continues to develop into a full-service office with the appointment of Andre Coetzee as managing director.

Coetzee has worked in the South African financial markets and other industries for almost 30 years and brings with him a sound knowledge of the local and international economies and South African political landscape. He has partnered with the National Treasury, Eskom, Transnet and South African Reserve Bank and has also been the media spokesperson for the Purchasing Managers’ Indices in South Africa in his last post at Kagiso Securities.

On his appointment, Coetzee says: “This is a great opportunity. As head of fixed income at Kagiso Securities I increased profitability and turnover in the department dramatically. I think I can bring economic and political research capability and understanding which is very important when doing business in Southern Africa and that should help the CIPS office and the procurement and supply chain profession in the region.”

Both an English and Afrikaans speaker, Coetzee has presented at conferences in both languages, and has been a regular on CNBC, Summit TV, SABC, RSG Geld sake, Classic Business and Radio 702

Karen Beamish, outgoing MD of CIPS Southern Africa said of the appointment: “We’re delighted to welcome Andre Coetzee to CIPS Southern Africa. Given his experience and entrepreneurial spirit, he will be able to influence and develop the procurement community and CIPS Southern Africa.

He is an experienced PMI (Purchasing Managers’ Indices) spokesperson, which will give us the added gravitas of his knowledge and economic insights. As CIPS is now a partner in the Southern Africa indices, we can only gain from this additional angle of expertise.”

Andre Coetzee takes up the post on 2 August 2010. Karen Beamish will continue working in the SA office, supporting Andre Coetzee until 30 September.
