A message from David Noble, CIPS CEO.
Procurement and supply management professionals are constantly being challenged to extend their scope of influence and play an expanded role in decision making at the highest levels of business. The impact of procurement and supply chain decisions on risk management, mergers, acquisitions and major capital projects have never been more visible and CIPS recognises the need to ensure our members are trained to the highest levels necessary to play a leading role in strategic, game changing decision making processes.
Nowhere is this more prevalent than in large scale infrastructure projects - increasingly a focus for good commercial management and where hundreds if not billions of pounds are at stake.
Consequently CIPS is pleased to announce that two of the biggest names in capital projects acquisition, Steve Morgan from BAA and Andrew Quincey from Transport for London, are stepping up to lead the development of the first of a series of Master Awards that will be designed to prepare professionals for this challenging and complex commercial environment.
Steve and Andrew will help CIPS shape the Capital Projects Master Award program that will be rolled out during 2013. Development of the Master Award will provide an opportunity for practitioners with relevant experience to join a Special Interest Group that will help define the content and learning outcomes for the program - further details of the group and how to get involved will be announced shortly by CIPS.
