CIPS has supported the development of a new set of standards by the UK Government’s Commercial Function in the Cabinet Office, to offer procurement teams a tool for individual and team development and career progression.
The Contract Management Professional Standards recognise that government departments have different challenges and needs and that contract management responsibilities are apportioned in differing ways, so the Standards have been created using many operating models, and incorporating feedback from various teams to be useful to many commercial functions.
Andrew Coulcher, Group Director, CIPS said, “CIPS has long recognised contract and supplier management activities as key levers to achieving good commercial outcomes, and the Standards’ role in building contract management capability through developing and accrediting the community.
“CIPS welcomes the opportunity to support the development of the Standards that will underpin development of capability in this important area.”
The Standards have been developed for use with the Civil Services Competency Framework and Civil Service Leadership Statement, and the Civil Service Code.
