At a recent Indirect Procurement conference in London (April 2014), global clothing brand Levi Strauss revealed its efforts to develop an indirect procurement function: ‘looking to create a centre-led, global approach to indirect procurement, and improve the management of its suppliers’. A small in-house team partnered with a consultancy, which looked at the global spend for the first time: ‘the first time in six years that we really have a serious engagement at the leadership level of what indirect procurement could mean for the organisation’.
