Supply Management (‘South Africa’s central tender board will prevent supply chain corruption’, Will Green, 18/2/14) reports that South African president Jacob Zuma has prioritised the prevention of corruption in public procurement in his ‘state of the nation’ address. A new central tender board will be appointed to adjudicate tenders in all spheres of government, working with the government’s Chief Procurement Officer, whose main function will be ‘to check on pricing and adherence to procedures, as well as fairness.’
