    This free webinar is open to members and non-members to attend.

    Several opportunities from looking beyond our individual relationships with our suppliers and considering the supply network as a whole. This includes considering the relationships between our suppliers and even the suppliers’ extended network. Taking a network perspective can offer various benefits, such as optimizing our supply chain, mitigating and responding to supply chain risks; and improving the effectiveness of our sustainability activities. In this webinar, we will discuss the benefits for companies to take a network perspective of their supply base. Using several examples, we will discuss how to unlock these advantages and also the risks managers face in not doing so.

    Aims:

    • Explain the supply network perspective
    • Review different supply network configurations and how companies switch from one to another in dynamic supply networks
    • Through case studies, discuss the opportunities for firm’s from map their supply networks and the enablers such as technology
    • Share examples of how supply networks relate to supply chain risk management and supply chain sustainability

    Speakers

    Dr. Canan Kocabasoglu-Hillmer

    ReaderBayes Business School (formerly Cass); City, University of London

    Dr. Canan Kocabasoglu-Hillmer joined the Operations and Supply Chain Management group at Cass Business School in 2008. Her research focuses on the drivers of effective collaboration between supply chain partners. She currently works on understanding the role of suppliers in managing supply chain risks and creating resilience. Funded by Institute of Supply Management (ISM), her Ph.D. thesis at University at Buffalo investigated strategic sourcing and e-procurement practices in companies and their effect on supply chain performance. She was a board member for the Heartland Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) during her tenure at University of Kansas. More recently, she wrote a blog on the role of procurement in creating supply chain agility for Procurement Leaders and led a session on ‘Managing More with Less’ for the Bitesize MBA program designed by Cass for parliamentary staff. Dr. Kocabasoglu-Hillmer regularly runs the operations management courses for the Executive MBA programs and the procurement course for MSc in Supply Chain Management. She is currently the past course director for the MSc Global Supply Chain Management and the past director of the Cass Global Women’s Leadership Program..

    Dr. Byung-Gak, Son

    Senior LecturerBayes Business School (formerly Cass); City, University of London

    Dr. Son, Byung-Gak is a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Cass Business School. His research interests are Supply Chain Partnership, Supply Chain Risk Management, and Offshoring and Outsourcing. Currently his research is more focused on complex supply chain network and its impact on various aspects SCM. His consultancy work includes the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affair and The Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency.
