    The session will explore how by developing and supporting SMES we can maximise our social value contribution strategically and operationally. Drawing on case studies from the Higher Education Sector, Bluelight and the Go4Growth programme we will seek to understand how the concept of Social Value can support procurement excellence.

    Jimmy Brannigan

    Jimmy is the co-founding director of NETpositive Futures Ltd and has worked on sustainability issues for over 20 years, helping a wide range of private and public sector organisations to integrate environmental and social considerations into business models and activities.

    Jimmy has been a leader in sustainable procurement thinking and practice and has worked on numerous projects and initiatives in addition to providing advice and training to a number of organisations. This includes supporting universities to achieve Level 5 of the Flexible Framework and writing numerous sustainable procurement and category strategies. Jimmy has worked with over 30 universities in addition to BITC, SKY, AVIVA, BAA, Multiplex as well as every Local Authority in North Yorkshire.

    He initiated the development of a software package and business systems for universities to enable the development of excellent supplier/business engagement. The software is being used by 45 universities and 4 Purchasing Consortia throughout the UK (The Supplier Engagement Tool for HE).

    Jimmy is also supporting the Go4Growth programme which specifically supports SMEs/VCSEs to work with the Public Sector.

    He is currently working with the procurement professionals within the Police and Blue Light Services to embed sustainability into procurement practice.
