Birmingham & Coventry Branch

What are the reasons that you choose to volunteer for CIPS?

I am currently studying towards my MCIPS and had attended CIPS events in the past and had always knew I wanted to be a part of the wider CIPS community as I really value the CIPS codes of ethics and everything CIPS do for procurement professionals - and I wanted to be involved in any way I could. After my first conversation with the Head of the Branch I was 100% sure I wanted to volunteer for the branch after he had explained to me my role and all of the things I could get involved with. At the time I also thought it would be a great opportunity to meet people with all different experiences which would help me as I started my career in Procurement. Through volunteering I have networked with a wide range of people from all across the globe which has been really exciting.

What is your biggest achievement whilst volunteering for CIPS?

My biggest achievement whilst volunteering must be running my first event as a student representative. The session was held over Zoom and was targeted to students to offer revision and exam techniques, we had a great guest speaker and reached a high number of members as well as receiving some great feedback for the content. As this was my first event I was nervous to host and facilitate but my fellow branch members were so helpful and reassuring. Once the session was over, I was extremely proud and even more exciting for my next event.
