What are the reasons that you choose to volunteer for CIPS?
As a dedicated and committed procurement professional, it has always been my passion to contribute to the growth of this noble profession - the Procurement and Supply profession both locally and globally. In 2014, I became a CIPS volunteer as Ghana Branch Vice Chair and later became the branch Chair, where I was then elected to serve as All African Congress member in 2018 through a highly contested election. My first term ended in 2019 and was elected in 2021. Having gained experience, skills and knowledge through my professional practice as well as my interaction and association with procurement and supply chain community network, it's always been in my heart to give back to develop, grow and make this community greater profession for our young aspirants. Through my career as a procurement and supply chain expert, I realized there wasn't a laudable system in place to nurture and mentor young procurement aspirants. Joining CIPS as a volunteer gave me a platform to better connect and reach out to these upcoming sector professionals who sought for support and guidance in their professional career. This has been very fruitful as I have witnessed students I mentored turnout to be effective and respectable leaders in their respective industry of practice.
