We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement and Contracts Officer to join our high performing Finance and Procurement Team. The role will be based at Phoenix House, Tiverton, with ability to work in a hybrid way. The successful applicant will benefit from full support and professional training.
About the Role
The successful candidate will assist in providing procurement support to Council services alongside the existing team. This will involve working with teams across the Council on all parts of the procurement lifecycle, including identifying routes to market, preparing, publishing and evaluating tenders and quotes, contract award, and purchase order and contract management.
You will play a key role in ensuring high levels of procurement compliance from services in line with the Council’s financial regulations and public procurement legislation, providing advice and guidance to colleagues where required. With new procurement legislation due to come into force in October 2024, you will help shape changes to policies and procedures to ensure they remain compliant following the change in legislation.
This role offers great variety, requiring involvement with a wide range of departments across the Council, such as ICT, Housing, Leisure, Planning and Waste & Recycling. Full training and support will be given by our friendly and experienced team, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake a CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
About You
We are looking for a confident individual with good organisational skills who can communicate effectively with suppliers and staff at all levels. You should have strong computer and numeracy skills and be able to provide a good level of customer service. You must also be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, work to deadlines and have a willingness to learn. Although some experience or knowledge of public procurement would be advantageous, full training will be given.
