This firm manages a spend of over £1.5 Billion and they excel in saving both time & money for their clients. This dynamic and exciting firm who is looking to acquire a Head of Category to help drive the business forward across the Retail portfolio (Hot beverages,Cold Beverages, Impulse, Alcohol, Food to Go & Convenience ) covering £330m+ in spend with a diverse range of clients.
This is a standout opportunity for a Senior Food / Retail Procurement Professional to join a steadfast business which surpasses their competition through their unrivalled scale and outstanding data analysis. This firm possesses a wealth of industry experience and act as a positive disruptor in the market by reshaping the food procurement industry. This client has won multiple awards including; Food Procurement Business of the Year and winner of the CIPS' Excellence in Procurement.
This £Multi-Billion Food Giant based in Surrey are offering hybrid working and a lucrative package of £80 - 100k, as well as a variety of enticing benefits in addition.
Role Purpose & Accountabilities:
- Accountable for the management Retail portfolio (Hot beverages,Cold Beverages, Impulse, Alcohol, Food to Go & Convenience ) covering £330m+ in spend. The Head of Category will play an integral role in defining and implementing category strategies whilst collaborating with the Procurement Director to deliver against the 2 strategic priorities; volume growth & value creation.
- Accountable for meeting financial & commercial KPI's, as well as managing the category pipeline which entails both identifying and executing opportunities to improve business activity and spend.
- Lead the category development team to execute procurement activities which deliver consistent and sustainable purchasing income.
- Create long term strategies and solutions to deliver programs to external clients. Create and develop a promotional plan to implement and drive income into the business.
- Deliver best in class supplier management strategies - Collaborate, develop & maintain prosperous supplier relationships which promote innovation - ensuring contract negotiations maximise commercial metrics and maintain strong relationships.
- Maintain high levels of commercial awareness, market knowledge and fulfil business requirements aligned with the category strategies.
- Ensure compliance and governance against the associated internal frameworks. Maximise resources of internal teams to successfully execute sourcing projects.
- Responsible for the successful execution of finance activities across the category and supplier portfolios. This includes PI budget creation, forecasting, pipeline management, balance sheet and collections.
- Energise, inspire and develop a large and diverse team of c.8 individuals to operate with pace, passion and resilience. Build a high performing team culture and position. Represent the firm at influential market events to develop the brand proposition and awareness.
Personal Skills:
- Looking for a self-starter who is delivery, achievement and customer focussed with both a propensity to exceed expectations and the ability to thrive independently with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- The Head of Category should possess extensive knowledge and experience of the food retail industry and a proven track record of delivering on category strategy, initiatives and cost savings.
- The procurement manager should effectively prioritise multiple demands and the ability to adapt quickly to change. Extensive experience of complex supplier and client management.
- Confident leader, communicator, influencer, negotiator & relationship builder. A professional who is detail orientated by nature and possesses the ability to problem solve.
- Collaboratively develop plans with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment of targets, improve supplier performance, and implement continuous improvement plans across spend.
- Solid analytical skills, with an ability to manage and interpret data to make effective decisions
- A dynamic & creative leader that can define a long term vision for success whilst delivering tangible progress short, medium & long term
