Assistant Procurement Manager

Salary circa £45,000 per annum FTC for 2 years

London, United Kingdom

We’re looking for an Assistant Procurement Manager to join our Programme Commercial Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team at an exciting time, with multi-billion pound Strategic Procurement in it’s early stages as well as a very busy team dealing with the business as usual procurement activity. This role will be on a fixed term contract for 2 years to cover internal moves within the Commercial team and provide support to the immediate team and the wider business.

If you are looking for an exciting challenge, as well as the opportunity to gain experience within a forward thinking procurement function on one of the worlds most prestigious heritage projects then this job could be for you.

The Palace of Westminster, one of the best recognised buildings in the world, needs essential restoration to preserve it for future generations.  The Palace has a rich and remarkable history. Westminster Hall is over 900 years old and has been the scene of great moments in our country’s political life, covering 34 acres, and the size of more than 1,000 houses, there are 1,100 rooms, 100 staircases, three miles of passageways, four floors and 65 different levels.  As well as being one of the UK’s biggest buildings it’s one of the nation’s busiest workplaces with thousands of people on site each day, from catering and security staff to MPs and Peers to experts keeping this iconic building running.

The Restoration and Renewal Programme is carrying out the tens of thousands of hours of complex building surveys and investigations needed to inform future decisions on the restoration work needed. We’ve already engaged teams of architects, engineers, project managers and contractors who will shape the future direction of the work. Restoring Parliament is already boosting UK industries, and the restoration will use UK materials wherever possible and create jobs and apprenticeships across the country, from engineering and high-tech design to traditional crafts such as carpentry and stonemasonry.

You will support senior colleagues in all areas of procurement delivery including bidder communications, tender logistics, interviews and evaluation planning. You will be the main interface with our procurement system (Oracle) and ensure all tender documents and plans are maintained and driven through to delivery.

You will also have the opportunity to manage the end to end process for lower value or non-complex framework procurements, providing an excellent level of support to internal teams and departments to ensure they are able to progress their procurements effectively.

The following skills and experience are essential to your success in this role:

  • Proven track record of working in a similar procurement role in a professional setting.
  • Experience of procurement activities and service delivery including framework mini-competitions, sub threshold procurement activities, and a good understanding of above threshold procurement competitions as per Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of maintaining records accurately with strong attention to detail, analysing and reporting and identifying issues.
  • Able to use effective organisational skills and time management to deliver quickly and accurately to customers across a high volume of requests.
  • Experience eProcurement tools, preferably Oracle, Jaggaer and AWARD.
  • Can work with minimal supervision following standard rules or guidance from senior colleagues.
