Quite simply, the Procurement team source everything from stores to shelves to wind farms to the ads you see at Christmas. Yet we’re a lean, award-winning team of just 50 colleagues, so everyone gets the chance to collaborate, influence and work with stakeholders to deliver the right solution. It also means you can push change and innovation across the business — through TU, Bank, Habitat, Argos and more. Better still, the team around you will listen to your ideas and opinions, and you’ll have every chance to try something new. We’re leading the agenda in procurement. If you can handle high pressure projects and always want to improve, you’ll fit right in.

Why join us

Joining our team at Sainsbury's as a Sourcing Manager means becoming part of a dynamic and innovative team with a strong focus on delivering outstanding results for the business. You will have the opportunity to take end-to-end ownership of the commercial and sourcing strategy for your assigned categories. By creating clear and compelling category plans, you will contribute to the development of a fit-for-purpose supply chain and deliver value for money to Sainsbury's. As a subject matter expert, you will have the chance to challenge and influence business strategy at all levels, becoming a trusted source of insight and solutions. With the opportunity to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, build strong supplier relationships, and navigate through negotiations and stakeholder conversations, you will have the support and flexibility to drive change and deliver results. Join our team and be part of a dynamic environment where innovation, resilience, and adaptability are highly valued.

What you'll do

As a Sourcing Manager within the Procurement division, your main responsibility is to deliver outstanding results for the business by demonstrating passion, purpose, and determination. You will take end-to-end ownership of the commercial and sourcing strategy for your assigned categories, creating clear and compelling category plans that ensure a fit-for-purpose supply chain and deliver value for money to Sainsbury's. Using a strategic sourcing methodology, you will execute these category plans independently and autonomously, focusing on achieving the best commercial and operational outcomes, including cost and working capital improvement. Additionally, you will lead cross-functional teams to implement business changes and confidently engage in difficult conversations and negotiations with key suppliers and senior stakeholders. As a critical business partner, you will challenge and support stakeholders as appropriate, act as a point of escalation for supplier-related risks and performance, and cultivate productive relationships with key suppliers to identify opportunities and ideas. Your success in this role will be measured by your ability to become a trusted source of insight and solutions, influence stakeholders at various levels, deliver beyond just numbers, and effectively manage risks within your categories.

Who you are

As a Sourcing Manager, you are a highly motivated and commercially astute procurement professional with a strong track record in delivering exceptional results within indirect categories. With your strategic mindset and deep understanding of cost, quality, and risk factors, you take end-to-end ownership of the commercial and sourcing strategy for your assigned categories. You excel at building strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders, confidently leading cross-functional teams to implement business change and negotiate effectively. Your critical thinking skills and analytical mindset enable you to identify opportunities for improvement and make data-driven decisions. With your resilient and adaptable nature, you thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and consistently deliver value beyond numbers. Your excellent communication and influencing skills, along with your commitment to acting with integrity, make you a trusted partner and subject matter expert who contributes to the overall success of the department and challenges business strategy at all levels.
