This UK leading Utilities firm are looking for a Category Manager to join their established procurement function, as they go through transformational change. They are seeking an experienced procurement professional to drive innovative strategy across a range of categories. They are transforming the way they work, and are implementing a category management approach. They are seeking a capable Category Manager to land this transition.

With sustainability at the forefront of their agenda, this firm invest over £1billion every year into their services and equipment. You will play a vital role in challenging, engaging and driving change, aligning with their short, medium and long term goals. As a blue-chip firm, you will work closely with established stakeholders, helping to build your network and portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of suppliers to enhance contract performance and deliver additional value.
  • Leading the development and management of comprehensive category plans, targeting value maximisation while balancing commercial risk.
  • Providing category knowledge and market insights to internal stakeholders, delivering category plans, managing sourcing events, and identifying risks.
  • Acting as the commercial expert for the category, to ensure this firm can adapt to market changes effectively.

Key Requirements:

  • Have a clear and detailed understanding of both short-term and long-term needs of stakeholders and the company, and demonstrate strong skills in engaging, supporting, influencing, and constructively challenging stakeholders to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the supply market, including suppliers, market trends, innovations, and changes, to identify valuable new suppliers.
  • Have a solid understanding of Category Management principles with a proven track record of delivering results across various categories and building strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, and have experience managing categories up to £100m in value, including handling significant strategic risks to the organisation.

You will gain unparalleled exposure to a dynamic business, having the chance to manage and run different categories. You will have exposure to indirect categories, including HR, professional services, and marketing; as well as direct categories including consumables or specialist equipment that support the operations. It is the perfect opportunity to move beyond your comfort zones and expand your skillset, alongside an established team of likeminded individuals. This firm provides a nurturing environment for success, and focuses on training and development, to help progress your career.

Valuing a strong work-life balance, this firm promotes flexible working, meaning you have to be in the Berkshire based office 2-3 times per week.
