The Purchasing Manager will lead the Dublin team of three buyers supporting the Commercial business segment. Responsible for all aspects of material purchasing and raw inventory management, site supplier performance management, cost savings, and strategic initiatives. Additional responsibility for site indirect purchasing of both MRO/supplies and services. You will partner closely with global supply chain and site business unit operations to support new and existing business and customer needs.

Description:
The Purchasing Manager will lead the Dublin team of three buyers supporting the Commercial business segment. Responsible for all aspects of material purchasing and raw inventory management, site supplier performance management, cost savings, and strategic initiatives. Additional responsibility for site indirect purchasing of both MRO/supplies and services. You will partner closely with global supply chain and site business unit operations to support new and existing business and customer needs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of purchasing professionals creating a culture of accountability, driving for results, collaboration, and customer focus. Develop talent pool and build team capabilities.
- Manage incoming material supply to ensure it is visible, predictable, & responsive through development and management of disciplined processes (MRP, inventory management, supplier consignment and VMI).
- Manage activities involving strategic or tactical material purchasing, material requirements planning, and overall materials and inventory management.
- Analyse inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or improve material availability to fulfil production schedules.
- Develop and implement an appropriate site procurement process that optimizes inventory and identify opportunities for cost-recovery due to obsolescence or material aging with the Site and the Customer Service Team.
- Lead cost savings efforts for site through site level purchasing projects, and implementation of sourcing initiatives and strategies. Set site level KPIs and develop buyer-specific savings goals.
- Collaborate with suppliers to reduce lead times, replenish by Kanban pull signals, and deliver in smaller and more frequent batches without economic penalty.
- Develop seamless communications with suppliers and provide them with predictable, reliable demand by forward forecasting requirements, streamlining communications, providing appropriate lead time for orders, minimizing disruptions in delivery schedules.
- Establish key performance indicators for purchasing, inventory management, and schedule attainment; monitor ongoing performance; and drive performance improvements in the KPIs.
- Lead site level cost savings efforts, and implementation of global sourcing strategies for direct and indirect categories.
- Collaborate with suppliers on their value creation processes and challenge them to reduce costs (and prices) by taking out wasted steps along their value streams while improving quality and responsiveness. Point out the root causes of waste in supplier operations and work out plans for essential improvements.
- This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.
- Attendance to work is an essential function of this position.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or 5 years related experience and/or training.
- College Level Mathematical Skills.
- Intermediate Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.
- Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.
- High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.
- High Standard of Report Writing
- Ability to effectively present information to various people as the job requires.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to set and achieve challenging goals.
- Supply chain experience with a multi-site manufacturing operation, with global experience preferred.
- Healthcare and/or pharma experience preferred but not required.
