About the Opportunity
The Supply Chain Manager will develop and enact the supply chain strategy, ensuring that best value contracts are introduced and appropriately managed with high performing Supply Chain partners.
Typical Responsibilities include:
- Develop optimum relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of contracts for the delivery of materiel and services
- Provision of expert advice and guidance to the business that will be central to developing and maintaining an effective Make vs Buy challenge and which will be supportive of the business strategy.
- The end to end procurement process from planning, setting of procurement requirements, issuing of tenders through to evaluation, selection & contract award and coordinates the internal sign off and approval pre-award
- Introduction of advantageous commercial arrangement and / or innovative contracting models that seek a partnership and collaborative approach with key supply chain partners.
- Develop and maintains relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to Corporate Function, Lines of Business Directors and Project teams, delivery partners and the wider supply chain
- Ensures processes and systems are established for the appropriate storage of all contractual documentation
- Ensures an environment for continual improvement to ensure that the Supply Chain team provides a proactive, effective and efficient service to the business; identifying and challenging performance issues and non-compliance and driving out improvement actions / plans to address
- Monitors business trends and product availability, ensuring value for money is achieved for materiel and services and that routes of supply are maintained for critical product
- Undertake commercial activities related to make/buy decisions including preparation of the contract scope specification (noting that functional areas remain accountable for technical aspects of these decisions).
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent
- Managing prime contract interfaces, risk mitigation and flexibility within supply chain including, supplier sourcing and leverage to deliver improvement, quality, performance, innovation and cost reduction.
- Experience of budget management and control
- The ability to manage complex stakeholder, and partnership relationships in a fast moving and changing environment
- Experience of communicating and presenting highly complex information to internal and external stakeholders
- High level of negotiation skills
- Detailed practical knowledge of contract tendering, contract structures and preparation
