Job Responsibilities
  • Establishes, maintain, and manages Company's business relationships and alliances with third party vendors to support global clinical trials and facilities.
  • Works closely with the Procurement Manager to ensure alignment of priorities, goals, and related activities.
  • Performs analysis with reliable sources to assure adequate vendor financial stability.
  • Backfills, as required, the Purchase Order Analyst in support of the work order/purchase order process.
  • Identifies new vendors through common purchasing processes and interact with other departments, when appropriate, to assess vendor qualifications.
  • Drafts and negotiates contracts, including development of new contractual language.
  • Ensures vendor compliance with negotiated business terms.
  • Assists with Root Cause/Corrective Actions to short term and permanent solutions to vendor issues.
  • Develops and implements appropriate negotiation strategies to ensure best pricing is achieved.
  • Schedules, hosts, and attends vendor capability presentations to establish business relationships with Preferred Providers.
  • Promotes vendor management strategy by setting expectations and establishing performance criteria and measurements for third party vendor relationships.
  • Conducts sponsor and vendor customer satisfaction surveys, as well as formal periodic performance reviews with each preferred provider.
  • Maintains and develops databases, develops, and provides reports, investigate complaints, works to resolve non-conformities and errors, acts as a resource to project teams, tracks cost savings, and tracks project timelines for the Procurement function.
  • Deploys strategic Global Procurement tools and processes.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we're looking for
  • BA/BS in Business Administration, Sciences, Public Administration, Public Health, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) - five (5) years of moderate experience in procurement with direct responsibility for vendors used in a clinical research organization.
  • Procurement experience in support of clinical and non-clinical services including IT, facilities, central laboratories, drug depots, or associated pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical supply chain organizations preferred.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Experience in a contract research organization or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Experience in Project Management and Execution of Strategic Plans.
  • Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Well versed on ERP systems such as Oracle EBS, SAP PeopleSoft.
  • Knowledge and experience doing presentations to different audiences.
  • Direct vendor negotiation skills.
  • Strong team-orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written/oral communication.
  • Customer-focused and able to manage challenging priorities and remain flexible and adaptable in stressful situations.
  • Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%).
