Procurement Excellence Lead - Indirect & Group Categories | Sustainability-Focused UK - Food Manufacturing firm
Location: Midlands
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + comprehensive benefits package
Are you passionate about sustainability and driving positive environmental change? Join one of the UK's leading food manufacturers as a Procurement Excellence Lead, where you'll play a key role in shaping the company's sustainability-focused procurement strategy. Reporting directly to the Group Procurement Director, you'll lead the Indirect and IT procurement teams, championing sustainable practices while transitioning the organisation to a category management model.
This newly created role is crucial to embedding sustainability into every layer of procurement, from supplier relationships to process optimisation. You will lead the development of sustainable procurement strategies that align with the company's carbon reduction goals, making a tangible impact on the business and the planet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sustainability Leadership: Lead the integration of sustainability into procurement operations, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and driving the company's Scope 3 carbon reduction initiatives. You'll champion sustainable sourcing, influencing both internal teams and external suppliers to prioritise environmentally responsible practices.
- Strategic Procurement Leadership: Work closely with the Group Procurement Director to design and implement a sustainability-led procurement framework for the Indirect and IT categories, increasing efficiency and embedding sustainable practices across the board.
- Category & Supplier Management: Act as a sustainability expert within category management, supporting teams in driving sustainable supplier relationships, capability building, and performance monitoring. Influence suppliers to adopt sustainable practices, driving innovation and responsible sourcing.
- Process Optimisation & Standardisation: Optimise procurement processes with sustainability in mind, using the SAP Ariba platform to ensure resources are maximised and environmental impact is minimised. Create standards that promote efficiency and responsible resource use.
- Collaboration & Influence: Serve as the key liaison between Group Shared Services, Procurement Governance & Compliance, and Accounts Payable, ensuring sustainability is at the heart of procurement processes and policies.
Skills & Experience:
- Significant senior-level procurement experience within a fast-paced, complex organisation-experience in FMCG/Food industries is highly advantageous.
- Proven expertise in indirect category management and supplier management, with a deep understanding and passion for sustainability and environmental compliance.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external suppliers to adopt sustainable practices.
- Degree and CIPS/MCIPS qualifications preferred.
Location & Benefits:
This Midlands-based role offers hybrid working and the opportunity for occasional international travel to offices in Germany. In return for your expertise and leadership, you will receive a competitive salary of £70,000 - £80,000, alongside a generous benefits package, including performance-related bonuses.
