Job overview

The Procurement and Sustainability team at AGHS have a new and exciting opportunity within their stock control team. This role will specifically target Materials Management quality standards and optimum stock holding levels within wards and departments at Airedale General Hospital. This role will contribute towards the Procurement Department’s overall waste reduction target and will actively support the improvement of Lean Processes. 

The team pride themselves on providing excellent customer service and aspire to be the best they can, contributing to the best possible service to patients and users within the hospital and community in accordance with the 5 Rights principle. We are looking for an individual who is experienced, enthusiastic, confident and has good analytical and communication skills, and is computer literate on software systems such as Microsoft Office. 

Main duties of the Job

Provides a high quality professional Procurement service to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford District Care Foundation Trust and other partners ensuring compliance with legislation, national and local policies.

Promoting across both Trust Board, dealing with all strategic procurement issues with a view to maximising the savings potential across the patch with more efficient and effective purchasing arrangements with a contribution to both Trusts’ non-pay expenditure.

Supports the Sustainable Procurement Manager for the management of the Logistics Team including Stock Control, Theatre team, and Receipt and Distribution, ensuring that all personnel are performing efficiently and effectively ensuring that all procedures are followed in line with the Standing Financial Instruction/Standing Orders.

Leads and manages the Logistics Section in focussing strategic effort towards reducing Health & Safety risk by developing robust procedures and supporting Receipt & Distribution staff in formal adoption of the new working methodologies.

subsidiary company of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and runs a shared service for both Airedale and Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Essential criteria

  • A good level of general education.
  • Professional qualifications in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or working towards

Desirable criteria

  • Professional qualification - MCIPS

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of staff supervision, team management and prioritisation of workloads.
  • Good experience in delivering cost reduction savings.
  • Good analytical skills and mathematical orientation.
  • Working knowledge of systems such as Microsoft Office along with experience of Supply Chain and Inventory Systems
  • Experience in the management and development of Receipt & Distribution, particularly related to stock contract, inventory management and Transport Management.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of staff recruitment/selection.
  • Experience of using purchase to pay systems such as Oracle.
  • A understanding of project management
