Remote Exams

If you are a studying for your CIPS exams in Australia and New Zealand, then you will take your exams remotely. 

This means that you will be able to sit your exams using your own computer or laptop, a compatible mobile and internet connection in the comfort of your own home or office.

Your remote CIPS invigilator will watch you through your mobile device camera, this way you can be assured that our high quality and compliance standards are maintained.

 

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR MARCH EXAMS

Remote exams will reduce your travel time and expenses which can soon mount up. Whilst the payment fees for remote exams are higher than those at CIPS exam centres, in most cases you will find that the money and time saved is significant and will quickly help you forget the additional cost.

For the March 2021 exam series, all students in Australia and New Zealand region will continue to take their exams remotely. 

CIPS has successfully tested remote exams in several exam series in the region, absorbing the additional invigilator costs so that no students were disadvantaged during the trial. 

Fees for remote exams for the March 2021 series onwards will be increased as detailed in the link below. In most cases students will find that by removing travel costs and the time saved, the benefits will exceed the additional cost of remote exams.

    Technical requirements

    IMPORTANT: To sit your exam you will need to meet the minimum system requirements to run your exam and for your remote invigilator.  

    Your Exam

    Your exam takes place on our CBE platform on your desktop/laptop on a system called TestReach. 

    Your desktop/laptop system requirements are:

    1. Mac 10.8+ or Windows 7+ operating system 
      Important note : Surface Pro/iPads/tablets/notebooks are not compatible with the testing software so you cannot take your exam on any of those devices

    2. Intel Core i3 (or equivalent) and 4GB RAM

    3. Continuous internet speed of a minimum of 516 kbps

    We also recommend a comfortable-size computer screen of at least 11 inches to minimise fatigue.

     

    Your remote invigilator

    Your remote invigilator will watch you through your mobile device camera using a mobile app called VICTVS V3.

    Your mobile device requirements are:

     

    iOS – iOS 13.4 and above.  Devices – iPhone 7,7 plus, 8, 8 plus, X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 11 pro, 11 Max Pro, SE (2nd gen),  iPad Air 2 (and above), iPad Mini 4, All iPad Pro models
    Android – 8.0 and above.
    1. iOS – iOS 13.4 and above. 
    2. Devices – iPhone 7,7 plus, 8, 8 plus, X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 11 pro, 11 Max Pro, SE (2nd gen),  iPad Air 2 (and above), iPad Mini 4, All iPad Pro models

    Can't meet the requirements? Speak to your employer, colleagues, or friends to see if you can borrow their equipment, alternatively email: remote.invigilation@cips.org as soon as possible and at least 5 days before your exam date.

    What you must do now 

    Download the VICTVS V3 App onto your compatible mobile device and set up your account. Download the App and Watch the video instructions

    Your VICTVS V3 app registration emails will be sent to your MyCIPS registered email address 2 weeks before your exam date.

    Check and confirm that your desktop/ laptop computer and mobile device meets the minimum technical requirements specified well in advance of exam day.

    Check and confirm that your exam booking(s) in MyCIPS show in your local time and that it matches your exam booking confirmation email from Testreach.

    Take the TestReach tutorial to familiarise yourself with the system, this will help you to feel calm and confident to login and get started on exam day.

    What you must do on exam day

    Firstly, you must open the VICTVS V3 application and connect with the invigilator before you open and begin your exam on TestReach. We recommend you do this 25 minutes before your exam starts. If you do not follow this instruction your exam will be null and void.

    Switch your fully charged, mobile device to airplane mode with WIFI enabled. Keep charging cables close by and an additional spare phone in case you need technical support. You must maintain a constant connection with your CIPS exam invigilator throughout your exam.

    Complete all app system updates on your mobile device. 

    Have a clear desk space.

    You will not be able to take a toilet break during remote exams.

    Ultimately, it is your responsibility on exam day to make sure your invigilator can watch you throughout your exam.

    password.
    Unable to access your TestReach account: https://app.testreach.com/
    Connection issue: If you have a connection issue during your exam, please contact
    remote.invigilation@cips.org as your exam will need to be re-scheduled to the next series. TestReach will
    not be able to resolve this
    Late to exam: You will not be able to enter your exam if you are more than 30 minutes late and your exam will need to be re-booked for the next
    session. Please rebook as per standard booking process

    Candidate Rules and Regulations

    Please note that when booking CIPS remote exams you have signed up to the CIPS candidate regulations and the CIPS Remote Exams Guidance document and so must ensure adherence to these regulations.

    You must be connected to your CIPS invigilator on the VICTVS app at all times during your exam.

    Do not access your exam in the TestReach computer-based exam platform until your CIPS invigilator is present.

    Reasonable adjustments:

    Candidates who require reasonable adjustments will need to apply as per the process - CIPS Reasonable Adjustments request.

    Please note rest break adjustments and toilet breaks are not permitted for CIPS remote exams.

    Ultimately, it is your responsibility on exam day to make sure your invigilator can watch you throughout your exam.
