Frequently asked questions

Where must I take an online remote exam?
remove

You can take the remote exam at home or in the office, where you must be in a private room, with no distractions. No one else is permitted in the room during the exam, and you may not take rest breaks or leave the room. Also you will be expected to apply for a reasonable adjustment and submit valid medical evidence for approved toilet breaks during a remote invigilation exam.

Are online remote exams secure?
add

There are several ways remote testing exams are secured to maintain the integrity of the exam. Once you are logged into your exam you will not have access to any other applications on your computer. In addition, throughout your exam our invigilators will watch you live and are trained to watch for and detect any behaviour that may infringe exam terms and conditions.

Before the exams starts you will be required to go through personal identify, systems and workplace checks with your invigilator.

How are exams invigilated?
add

Each student is allocated a live remote invigilator who will do your pre exam personal identity, systems and room checks and will be watching you during the remote exam to ensure security is maintained.

Which exams can I take via online remote invigilation?
add

You can choose to take both CR and OR exams by remote invigilation

Why are remote exams more expensive?
add

The number of students that a live remote invigilator can watch during an online remote exam is fewer than in a traditional exam centre.

CIPS requires a higher number of professional invigilators to maintain the security of the online remote examination. This means that the fees for remote exams are slightly higher than those at CIPS exam centres.

In most cases, students will find that the money and time saved by taking the exams at home or in the office can be significant to counter the additional cost.

You can see all fees for CIPS exams online.
