Are you getting a little long in the tooth? Need a new challenge or exciting career shift? It might be time for you to start looking for a new job - and you’re in luck, the start of the year is always a busy time for recruiters looking to hire top talent for the new year.

Six signs it’s time to get a new job
You are no longer challenged
The biggest motivation killer is feeling as though the work you are doing is too easy or no longer challenging you. If you don’t feel as though what you are doing is fully engaging you, then it might be time to consider a change. A new job brings new things to learn, new problems to solve and the potential for more opportunities to progress and improve.
Small things become big issues
Are you finding that small tasks that you once wouldn’t have batted an eyelid over are becoming frustrating? Losing your patient with things and being more irritable are signs that you’re unhappy with your current job and can often be a result of stress. Stress is a key factor when it comes to our happiness and if your job is causing you more stress than it’s worth, it might be time to leave.
You’re counting down the hours
Boredom is a huge factor. Once you lack motivation, potentially caused by no longer being challenged or burn out from stress, it’s very hard to stay focused and involved with the work you are doing. This prompt a lot of people to start watching the clock. If stress is the problem, a break might be all you need. But, if a holiday hasn’t fixed it, then it’s time to move on.
You don’t enjoy spending time with your colleagues
One of the great things about work is that, often, the people you work with become your friends. You spend the majority of your time with these people, which means you really want to get on well with them to maintain your own wellbeing. That’s not to say you have to be best friends with your colleagues, but you have to enjoy being in their company enough for it not to affect your work. If you find yourself dreading having to make conversation with the person sitting next to you, it might be time for a move.
You’re not reaching your potential
Similar to the not feeling challenged point, if you feel as though you’re not reaching your potential in a role then you probably need to start job hunting. It may be that you feel like there are too many blockers not allowing you to do the things you’d really like to improve your department. Or you may feel as though you have learnt what you can from your current role and are ready for that next step up. If there aren’t any opportunities in your current organisation, then it might be worth touching up your CV.
A promotion isn’t on the table
As mentioned above, you might also want to start searching for a new job if there aren’t the opportunities you would like at your current company. If you feel as though you deserve a promotion or a pay rise, and neither of these are on the table - or likely to be - you should start to look for where you can achieve these.
