This global engineering and manufacturing organization, situated in the Austrian alps, is looking for a talented procurement professional or engineer with a strong commercial acumen to join their procurement team near Innsbruck. You will be taking on responsibility for a critical business category which is the Forgings spend worth over €40M per year. This position will require a strong technical knowledge of forging process to work closely with internal design and production teams as well as key suppliers in the sector to ensure best cost and quality is achieved.

As the Strategic Sourcing Manager for Forgings, your responsibilities will include:

• Develop the sourcing strategy for the forgings spends as well as other direct materials that fall under your scope of responsibility
• Act as primary point of contact for supplier selection, supplier onboarding and ongoing supplier relationship management
• Provide subject matter expertise on both technical and commercial topics related to forgings
• Drive continuous improvement to the purchasing process through six sigma and lean manufacturing methodologies
• Work closely with New Product Development and Engineering teams in understanding design, cost-modelling and production techniques

The Strategic Sourcing Manager for Forgings will require the following skills in ordered to succeed in this position:

• A technical educational background; preferably in an engineering discipline
• Fluent in German, both written and spoken
• Proven experience working in a procurement, sourcing, supply chain or engineering role that provides you with the relevant knowledge of forging processes
• A strong background in project management to be able to coordinate multiple simultaneous programs
• Excellent commercial ability when it comes to contract management and negotiation
• Willing to be based and work-full time on site; remote working is not readily available
