Make your mark as part of a strategic team, supporting the organisation through business partnering.

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We are revitalising our commercial strategy and building our commercial capacity to support the Council in delivery of its vision. Joining this developing team, you’ll use your commercial expertise to make a strong, positive difference for the people and communities we serve.

We take our responsibilities as a major local employer seriously and want to recruit people who reflect the make-up our communities while also sharing in our values of respect, openness, honesty, compassion, responsibility and humility. Strong management is key to ensuring the success of this approach, as well as delivering on our strategic bi-borough arrangement with Westminster.

The Role:

As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will work as a partner to the business to one or more category areas, act as the commercial expert on all elements of the commissioning process. You’ll ensure we deliver a service that is continually evolving to deliver value for money increasing its social value to the Community. It’s a chance to build on your commercial management skills: helping to shape the new team and your role within it, while gaining experience across a range of services and contracts and operating at a senior level. The opportunities for innovation are immense. Expect to be involved in complex and high-value procurement projects and contracts and to build critical, senior-level relationships, both inside and outside the organisation. We’ll look to you to identify areas of synergy and find opportunities to improve and transform services.

About You:

You’ll bring new ideas, genuine commercial insight and the confidence to operate at a senior level. With a strong technical background in procurement, you’ll have knowledge of PCR 2015 and contract law, as well as experience of OJEU procedures. You’ll also be capable of identifying and managing risk. Just as important is a values-led approach to your work, including a commitment to reflecting local community priorities. Sound negotiating and influencing skills will be matched by a focus on collaborative working.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online and specify on your application how you meet the skills, knowledge and qualities specified in the job description and person specification.

We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We are a Disability Confident Employer – committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
