ASSISTANT CATEGORY MANAGER OR ASSISTANT CATEGORY MANAGER (TRAINEE)
REF: SC3839
£26,715 to £32,817 per annum
The role is available to experienced procurement professionals or those seeking an opportunity to develop their career in the procurement profession.
We seek a self-motivated, positive and engaged Assistant Category Manager to work in the Procurement Service, providing support across all University Schools and Departments. With a non-pay spend of about £80m UEA is one of the UK’s top teaching and research universities.
The Assistant Category Manager will, under the guidance of Category Managers and the Head of Procurement and Insurance, contribute to achieving savings targets and to embedding best practice within procurement processes and decisions; as well as ensuring compliance with EU and UK legal obligations. Day-to-day procurement is devolved to budget holders and the procurement service supports this activity through central procurement for common goods and services, along with providing advice to the wider procurement community. Additionally, the Assistant Category Manager will help lead the recovery, interpretation and use of data and management information to support the above activity.
Candidates who are able to demonstrate that they meet all the essential and desirable criteria in the Person Specification for the role will be appointed as Assistant Category Manager on an indefinite basis. We also welcome applications from candidates who do not currently meet all of the desirable criteria, for appointment as Assistant Category Manager (Trainee). Further information is available in the Further Particulars for the post. The Job Description and purpose of the job offered are the same for both levels.
You will be educated to ‘A’ level standard (or equivalent qualification) and have experience of working with stakeholders and budget holders, and of researching and data collection on expenditure and procurement activity. Excellent organisation and interpersonal skills are also essential, along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Closing Date: 17 December 2020.
