Sustainable Procurement Lead - FTSE 250 Engineering Major - Surrey - Flexible Working

This global FTSE 250 engineering and aerospace firm are looking to kick-start a new era of responsible procurement and supply chain by appointing a greenfield Sustainable Procurement Lead into this exciting position with the potential to make a major positive impact across the whole organisation and industry.
The successful individual will act as an internal consultant to the extensive supply chain and procurement teams across the 8 countries the company operates in. The organisation continues to look at innovative and effective ways to lead the market in terms of procurement best practice relating to environmental sustainability, social and corporate responsibility, industry engagement and ethical sourcing. This role will have stand-alone responsibility and influence to direct the company's procurement strategy in relation to these critical areas.
Some of the key responsibilities of the Sustainable Procurement Lead position are:
- Development and implementation of sustainable procurement and sourcing strategies, including minimizing the environmental impact of the organisations footprint though energy and waste reductions, sustainable supplier selection and minimization of emissions
- This role will also have responsibility for promoting sustainable procurement practices across areas such as social responsibility (modern slavery, diversity, and inclusion) as well as economic considerations (international development, community engagement and regeneration
- Organise and lead industrial engagement events and overarching strategy, working with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders alike to promote collaboration on key issues
- Act as a subject matter expert and point of contact for senior level management and the wider function to deliver on the company's sustainability strategy, leading by example and utilizing strong communication skills
The prerequisite requirements for this position are:
- 3+ years within procurement and supply chain management, including previous experience developing sustainable procurement strategy and dealing with industrial engagement
- Demonstrated procurement change and transformation experience, with a track record of working with senior level stakeholders
- Strong cultural and ethical awareness, with a genuine interest in environmentally friendly and sustainable procurement practices
- Strong educational record, with CIPS accreditation desirable
- Language skills, including French and German desirable due to the global nature of this role, but not essential
Please note that due to the Aerospace nature of this role, the successful individual must be eligible for baseline security clearance and must therefore have full unrestricted right to work in the UK.
